The Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, has announced a temporary increase in train services along the Lagos-Ibadan corridor ahead of the Sallah celebrations.

In a statement issued by the corporation’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Mr Callistus Unyimadu, the NRC said the adjustment was introduced to manage the expected rise in passenger traffic during the festive period.

Under the revised schedule, six train trips will operate on Tuesday, May 26, instead of the usual four services on the route.

According to the corporation, trains departing from Lagos will leave at 7:45am, 1:40pm and 4:00pm, while departures from Ibadan are scheduled for 8:00am, 10:50am and 4:30pm.

The NRC said the expanded operations are temporary and designed specifically to ease travel demand during Sallah.

It added that the regular Tuesday timetable of four trips would resume after the celebrations.

The corporation also announced changes to its recently introduced Thursday six-trip operations, stating that only four train services would run on Thursday, May 28, during the review period.

According to the NRC, the normal six-trip Thursday schedule will return after the festive season.
