The Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) has imposed a N2.5 million fine on Ekiti Queens and directed the club to relocate its home matches to Abeokuta after players and officials assaulted match referees during Wednesday’s fixture against Edo Queens.
Ekiti Queens fell 1–0 in the heated Matchday Three clash, with Atume Doosuur sealing victory for Edo Queens in the 67th minute.
The NWFL condemned the attack as a grave violation of league safety and conduct rules. The league announced that Ekiti Queens will now host their next three home games at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta as part of disciplinary measures.
According to the NWFL, the sanctions aim to deter similar behaviour and reinforce discipline across the league.
Ekiti Queens have yet to secure a win this season, with one draw and two losses from three matches.
