Engr. Babachir Lawal, a former secretary to the government of the federation and prominent member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has declared his support for Peter Obi of the Labour Party and expressed astonishment that the APC has not fired him (Lawal).
Given the current status of the nation, he continued, Peter Obi must win the 2023 presidential election.
These were said by Lawal on Monday in Abuja during a discussion between Obi and stakeholders from the north-eastern region.
“I am in the APC and a member of the party’s Board of Trustees, but I am working on the Peter Obi/Yusuf Datti movement,” said Lawal.
“I have not yet been fired by the APC. I have no idea why they are holding out.
“We need and want (Obi) to prevail in this election. Because of the embarrassment and disgrace of losing, all of us will move to Cameroon if we lose this election. Whether or not we have options is irrelevant; Peter Obi must prevail in this election.
“Nigerians desire for change, and many are adamant that the change we have been hoping for will arrive this time.
“Thank goodness, Peter and his running mate are competent. These two give us the arrowhead we need to move this change forward.
“LP as a party doesn’t interest me. Peter Obi’s candidacy for president piques my attention. Regardless of Peter Obi’s political affiliation, I believe that change in Nigeria is long overdue.
They have been looking for change, and in my opinion, Nigeria will support anyone as long as they are not affiliated with the PDP or APC.
The interactive session, according to the convener, Engr. Isaac Balami, is intended to identify ways to motivate the general public to support Obi/Datti and ensure their win on February 25, 2023.
We’re here to discuss how to give Obi/Datti the victory, he said.
