Kingsley Ononuju, the former commissioner for trade and industry in Imo State, said on Monday that Peter Obi’s candidacy for president of the Labour Party was “the final chance to preserve Nigeria.”
Nigerians, according to Ononuju, the head of the regional organizing committee for Obi’s rally in the state on Tuesday, are “excited” to support him in the upcoming presidential election.
The former APC chieftain provided updates on Obi’s presidential campaign rally in the state and revealed that large numbers of Nigerians were turning out to support the LP candidate.
In February 2023, the state’s presidential campaign council is aiming for nearly two million votes for Obi, according to Ononuju.
He said, “Since becoming an independent nation in 1960, Nigeria has been so beset by agonizing difficulties that seem eager to undermine her very foundation. These difficulties range from a poorly managed economy that manifests in what some have described as hyperinflation, worthless currency relative to the exchange rate with other currencies, to epileptic power supply, the worst and most crippling network of roads in the world, nepotism, official greed, rampant corruption, insecurity, and menacing disease. It’s interesting to note that God, in His unending charity, sent Peter Obi to clean up Nigeria, which resembles the Augean stables Hercules purified in Greek mythology.
“He did it in Anambra State; he instituted a paradigm shift that facilitated economic development, massive road construction, industrialization, improvement in the educational and health sectors, frugal financial management that ultimately led to the saving of over N70billion for Anambra State in what mirrors the Sovereign Wealth Fund of Kuwait and Norway.” Nobody can deny that Peter Obi left Anambra State with a legacy of good government that has persisted to this day.
