The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, has expressed confidence that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 candidate, could secure the presidency in 2027. Speaking at the “Repositioning the Obidient Movement for Greater Impact” symposium in Onitsha, Tanko said, “We are determined to end bad governance and ensure the right people are elected.” He highlighted that alleged electoral malpractice in 2023 had denied Obi victory, promising that next time the movement would be prepared.
Tanko emphasized that a “new Nigeria is possible” with free and fair elections, advocating for electoral reform. He added, “We will take this fight to the streets, courts, and National Assembly to make sure our voices are heard.”
The event chair, Prof. Stella Okunna, praised the movement’s efforts, while Labour Party’s Anambra governorship hopeful, Valentine Ozigbo, encouraged unity among members to work toward a better Nigeria. Prof. Pat Utomi also called for coordinated action, urging members to drive meaningful change for the nation’s future.
