A member of the Amaewule family in Mbodo, Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Elder Fabulous Amaewule, has denied any involvement by Odibola Properties Limited in a family land dispute.
Elder Amaewule made the clarification while speaking to journalists. He said the company had no land dealings or transactions with him and urged the public not to link it to the dispute.
He identified himself as the judgement creditor in the land case before Justice Apirioku. He also questioned why Odibola Properties Limited had been mentioned in the matter.
According to him, the company did not participate in the legal proceedings. He therefore called on those spreading information about the dispute to stop portraying the firm as a land grabber.
Elder Amaewule alleged that some individuals in Mbodo, Aluu, sold the disputed land without informing the family members he described as the rightful owners.
He claimed that the sales continued without anyone challenging or cautioning those involved.
Consequently, he said he approached the court alongside Oluchukwu Amaewule and Mike Eziwhu Okpara to challenge the transactions. The case later resulted in a judgement in their favour, according to his account.
However, the report did not provide the full court judgement or details of the specific orders issued.
The dispute has also raised concerns about the treatment of those who pursued legal action over the land.
The report states that Fabulous Amaewule, Onuchukwu and Eziwhu were excluded from benefits distributed to indigenes of the area, including a sharing exercise held on the previous Friday.
It did not specify who organised the distribution or the reasons given for their exclusion.
Elder Amaewule’s statement focused on separating Odibola Properties Limited from the dispute and explaining why he and other family members went to court.
The allegations concerning the land transactions and the reported exclusion have not been independently verified. The account also did not include responses from the individuals accused of selling the land or other parties involved in the dispute
