On the Abeokuta-Sagamu road on Thursday, a Toyota Sienna bus collided from behind with a moving Sino truck, killing four people instantly.
Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps’ spokesperson, confirmed the occurrence to reporters on Friday in the capital of Ogun State, Abeokuta.
According to Akinbiyi, the collision happened at 7:18 p.m. on the highway at Adedero in front of the Adaranijo Filling Station with the cars headed toward Abeokuta.
“I found out that the Toyota Sienna with the registration number AAA 307 GN was traveling toward Abeokuta when it struck the cement-making company’s truck from behind as a result of speed.
“The driver was unable to discern that a vehicle was in his front,” he claimed. This was because to the smoke coming from the truck, which was registered WDL 418 XA and did not have a rear light.
All of the victims, he claimed, were men.
The bodies were deposited in the morgue of the State Hospital, Ijaye in Abeokuta, according to a TRACE spokesperson.
He expressed sympathy to the victims’ families, cautioned motorists to drive safely, and advised operators of articulated vehicles to ensure that their vehicles received regular maintenance.
