-Veteran centre-back urges team to keep clean sheet record
-Nigeria eyes top spot in Group B with another strong showing

Super Falcons defender Osinachi Ohale has underscored the need for unwavering defensive focus as Nigeria prepares to clash with Botswana at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Speaking ahead of Thursday’s Group B fixture, Ohale stressed the importance of maintaining the team’s recent defensive form, which has seen them concede just once in their last three outings.

“It was a good step for us and we want to keep those high standards and keep the record going forward and make sure we don’t concede goals,” the 31-year-old told Ademola Victor TV.

Ohale played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s 3–0 opening win over Tunisia, helping to shut out the North Africans with a commanding presence at the heart of the defence. Alongside her teammates, she aims to replicate that solid performance when they meet Botswana’s Mares at the Labri Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.

Coach Justin Madugu’s squad is looking to top the group, and a win against Botswana — who are chasing their first victory — would solidify their position in the knockout stages.

Kick-off is slated for 8 pm Nigerian time.
