The governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya, has issued a warning to the populace, urging them to keep the calm so that exploration of the Kolmani resources can go unhindered.
There have already been verbal squabbles in the media about who the true proprietors of Kolmani nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are.
According to President Major General Muhammadu Buhari’s (ret.) inaugural speech, the discovery will bring the nation over $3 billion in investment.
Yahaya claimed that if the relative tranquility in the state were to be jeopardized, investors in other areas of the economy of the State might also decide to depart.
When Yahaya’s campaign train landed in Kaltungo on Wednesday after finishing ward-to-ward campaigning in Balanga, it was at the palace of Mai Kaltungo, Engr. Saleh Mohammed, that he made this admission.
The Governor voiced concern and warned that if preventative steps are not done, tensions between communities in the State may potentially develop.
Yahaya emphasized the vital functions of traditional institutions and their involvement in promoting peaceful coexistence among the populace.
He claimed that if people keep fighting over the location of oil or exploration activities, the intended economic advantage from the oil will simply be a curse for localities and the State as a whole.
According to our correspondent, the governor traveled to the wards of Ture, Awak, Kamo, and Tungo as part of his campaign. He also visited Kaltungo East and Kaltungo West.
