Former professional football player Okafor Emmanuel Junior was found guilty and given a five-year prison sentence by a Federal High Court in Lagos for drug trafficking.

The defendant was brought before the court after being apprehended by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) agents with 1.40kg of crack cocaine smuggled inside his baggage.

Recall that on September 26 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, he was detained with the illegal substance upon his arrival from Brazil.

He entered a plea of guilty to the allegations brought against him by NDLEA, and Justice Nicholas Oweibo then gave him a five-year prison sentence.

However, the judge offered the defendant the choice of a N1 million fine instead of incarceration.
