Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) now controls 31 state governors, signaling that more political defections into the party are imminent.

Okpebholo made the assertion on Wednesday during the official reception of defectors into the APC in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

Addressing party supporters and new members, the governor commended residents of Edo State for what he described as growing unity within the ruling party.

He stated that the increasing number of APC governors across the country reflects the party’s expanding influence and appeal.

“We now have 31 governors in the All Progressives Congress, APC. And I want to tell you that more governors are still coming to join us,” Okpebholo said.

The governor also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his support, describing the president as a father figure to members of the party.

“I want to also express my profound gratitude to our father, President Bola Tinubu. He’s being so good to us,” he added.

Okpebholo further pledged the loyalty of Edo State to the ruling party and assured that the state would support Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“We promise to deliver Edo State to him come 2027 general elections,” the governor said.

The event drew party leaders, supporters, and defectors who formally joined the APC during the ceremony in Benin City.
