Babatunji Wusu –
Chief Olanrewaju Adepoju, a veteran poet and playwright who promoted Yoruba culture, has passed away.
It has been reported that the well-known artist passed away on Sunday night at around 7 p.m. at his home in Idi Orogbo, off Ring Ring Road, Ibadan, Oyo State, following a protracted illness associated to aging.
As he celebrated his 80th birthday three years ago, one of his sons, who wished to remain anonymous, reported that Adepoju passed away at the age of 83.
“Our father should be officially quoted as being 83 years old, as we celebrated his 80th birthday with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren three years ago,” the speaker stated.
The late brave “Ewi exponent,” who recorded multiple songs to combat social injustices and military adventures in politics, once informed reporters that he had never gone to school.
However, our source affirmed that the revered imam will be buried in accordance with Islamic customs by 4 p.m. on Monday (today).
