Nigeria forward Peter Olayinka is set for an extended recovery period after undergoing surgery for an Achilles tendon injury sustained during Red Star Belgrade’s Champions League match against AS Monaco. Red Star Belgrade confirmed that the procedure, performed by a renowned surgeon in Finland, was successful.
“Peter Olayinka was successfully operated on in Finland by a famous doctor,” the club’s statement noted, adding that they are awaiting the post-operative healing to determine his return timeline. Olayinka is expected to be out for six to nine months. This season, he has scored twice and provided two assists in six league games for Red Star Belgrade.
