Olori Tobi, the third and youngest wife of Adeyeye Ogunwusi (jájá II), the Ooni of Ife, has provided more details about the nature of her marriage to the traditional head of state.
She revealed more details about how she met the Ooni and revealed that, contrary to popular belief, they had previously dated and broken up before getting back together.
On Friday, the 2012 World Miss University Africa (WMUA) winner appeared as a guest on Television Continental’s “Your View,” a morning show.
She recalled someone introducing her to the Ooni during her interview.
“Someone recently called me and asked if I would be interested in getting married to the Ooni of Ife. What’s that, I thought? He then gave us his introduction.
Olori claimed that if they hadn’t reconciled, it would not have happened.
Naturally, she replied. If I didn’t love him, I wouldn’t be here today. I’ve always vowed to marry the one I love. So it’s not like I didn’t have suitors, but there are certain qualities I look for in a partner. He also has that. I’m here for that reason.
“I didn’t take it seriously because I was thinking, ok, so what’s happening? But after we got together and began dating, there was so much interference that we were unable to be married. For me, that was just terrible,” she added.
Olori Tobi, a fashion designer and mixed media artist, elaborated in her speech on the characteristics she finds essential in a partner.
“Because of the type of person I am, I would not be with someone who is unkind. I’m gullible. So I won’t be with you if you don’t fit certain requirements.
She continued, “Plus, I like to wear heels and I’m tall, so I don’t see myself with someone who isn’t tall.”
Olori Tobi, the owner of the high-end fashion label QTP, spoke with the show’s hosts about polygamy and how she’s adjusting.
She said that, in contrast to early media accounts, her parents were not opposed to her marriage to the Ooni of Ife and polygamy.
“If you find someone who meets some requirements that are inflexible for you, you should accept them. In general, I never thought I’d be in a polygamous situation, but I always had a few non-negotiables.
My mother initially expressed some concern. In addition, she added, “Our relationship has been through quite a rollercoaster.” My folks didn’t object, though,” she stated.
She added that she understood the Ooni wouldn’t have time for her every day because there were other Oloris.
She also said that she is not clingy and that she is building up her business, so she has a full plate.
The social butterfly among the six Oloris, Olori Tobi, also disclosed that she gets along well with the other Queens.
“When I address them, I decided to put Ma. I don’t disrespect people very often because I wasn’t raised that way. We get along well, and I’ve met some of them,” she said.
Olori Tobi, a University of Lagos marine science graduate, described a few weeks ago how she prayed for her marriage to happen after a man informed her that she wasn’t the kind of woman who got married.
The Queen claims that at that time, if God granted her a miracle, she made a vow to Him that if He did, she would sing and dance on social media every Sunday to share her experience with the world.
The third of the Ooni’s six fast marriages was Olori Tobi Phillips.
On October 9, the monarch got hitched to her.
He wed her a few weeks after divorcing his first wife, Olori Mariam Anako, and taking a second wife, Olori Elizabeth Opeoluwa Akinmuda.
