National Chairman of the Social Democratic, SDP, Chief Olu Falae, has resigned from the party and as well quit active politics.

The Premier News learned of his decision to retire from active politics after it was disclosed in the early hours of Friday.

According to the one-time presidential candidate of the All Peoples Party, he cited health challenge as the reason for his decision.

Recall The Premier News had reported that the party withdrew from the forthcoming presidential election and endorsed the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari.

The party made this known in a statement as part of the resolutions of its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Thursday.

The Premier News had earlier reported that the SDP denied being part of the adoption of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, as the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) consensus candidate.

Later the party announced its withdrawal from the CUPP for the 2019 presidential election.
