The formal de-recognition of Sir Celestine Omehia as a previous governor of the state will be signed by Nyesom Wike, the governor of River State, on Friday.

The cancellation came after a resolution to de-recognize Celestine as such was approved by the Rivers State House of Assembly on Thursday.

This was said in a statement provided to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Thursday night by Wike’s media assistant, Kelvin Ebiri.

“His Excellency Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, is to sign the instrument on revocation of the recognition of Sir Celestine Omehia as a former governor of Rivers State,” the announcement marked “Government Announcement” stated.

“The de-recognition of Sir Celestine Omehia as a former governor of the State comes in response to the Rivers State House of Assembly decision issued on Thursday, October 6, 2022.

On Friday, October 7, 2022, at noon, the signing will take place in Government House, Port Harcourt.
