Tunji Wusu –

Senator Iyiola Omisore, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed hope on Friday that Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, the Governor of Ondo State, will soon return to the state to continue addressing the needs of the people in terms of development.

During a solidarity visit to Akure, the seat of Ondo State, Omisore made this declaration. He highlighted that the governor merely needs to rest and that there should be no cause for concern about his health.

The Acting Governor, Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa, the State Party Chairman, Ade Adetimehin, members of the State Working Committee, the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, the Chief of Staff, Chief Gbenga Ale, members of the House of Assembly, Commissioners, and other top government officials were among those the National Secretary met with during the visit.

Omisore said that Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman,’s recent request and prayer for the governor had been misunderstood. The governor was never said to be incapacitated, according to him, but he complained that some press outlets decided to be pranksters and reported: “What they feel makes news.”

He said, “Mr Chairman just requested people to pray for your governor’s speedy recovery; not due to being disabled. Therefore, the purpose of our visit is to support the national secretariat’s assertion that our prayers were limited to Arakunrin Akeredolu’s rapid recovery and nothing more.

He gave the assurance that the national secretariat supports the State and will do so at all times as needed.

Adetimehin, the state chairman, disputed the idea that the chapter is in trouble and insisted that the party is still unified under the direction of Governor Akeredolu. In addition to reiterating the state’s dedication to unity, he underscored the party’s major contributions to the APC’s success in the most recent presidential election.

The visiting team was thanked for their cooperation by the acting governor, Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa. He chastised some journalists for slanting the truth carelessly and disseminating outright lies. In order to prevent embarrassing and misinforming the public, he advised journalists to double-check their sources.

The National Vice Chairman for the South West, Hon. Isaacs Kekemeke, and National Vice Chairman for the North Central, Hon. Bawa Muazu, were in attendance with the National Secretary.
