Following the release of an audit that exposed president Noel Le Graet’s “inappropriate behavior toward women,” the executive of the French federation will convene on February 28, according to a source with direct knowledge of the situation who spoke to Reuters on Thursday.
Le Graet is the subject of an investigation on moral and sexual harassment that the Paris prosecutor’s office launched last month. He claims he did nothing wrong.
Le Graet, 81, was on the verge of resigning after the audit, which was ordered by the French ministry of sports, found that he no longer had “the requisite legitimacy” to oversee and represent the sport in France.
Le Graet stepped down as FFF president last month, and Philippe Diallo took over in an interim capacity.
Le Graet received criticism for his harsh remarks on Zinedine Zidane, a former France star and one of the front-runners to succeed Didier Deschamps as manager of France. Deschamps’ contract was then extended by Le Graet until 2026, which is two years after the conclusion of his term.
Le Graet cannot be fired by the executive committee, but the president can be brought before the disciplinary committee.
“We will have to bring the situation to the Federation’s disciplinary committee if Noel Le Graet doesn’t quit. Patrick Aton, the head of the FFF’s ethics committee, told the sports publication L’Equipe, “I also think the executive committee can do this.
