Adetutu Adedokun, a member of the Department of State Services, is said to have committed suicide on Thursday by jumping into the Lagoon.
Adedokun’s Uber driver allegedly stated that she was speaking with her fiancé on the phone when she got out of the vehicle and jumped into the lagoon.
Adedokun, who is in her late 30s, reportedly received a letter of praise from DSS Director-General Yusuf Bichi a few months ago for being the finest unarmed combat operative in her set.
Since the incident, a video of her boyfriend popping the question to her had become popular online.
Adedokun’s status as a DSS agent was officially verified by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, in a statement on Friday.
“Investigations have not turned up the driver of the vehicle she was in previous to the collision,” he stated.
The rescue mission has been switched to recovery, and the reaction team is currently keeping an eye on the tide and asking the villagers if they have any relevant information.
Peter Afunaya, the DSS spokesman, claimed to be unaware of the incident.
I don’t know, and I have nothing to add, he said.
The victim’s body hasn’t been located yet, according to Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, general manager of the Lagos State Waterways Authority.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police’s public relations officer, said that no report of the occurrence had been filed.
