Babatunji Wusu –
Ondo State’s ruling All Progressives Congress has accused the state branch of the Peoples Democratic Party of plotting a crisis in Akure, the state capital.
The APC claimed that the PDP’s purported plan, which is set to take place on Monday, intended to create “a semblance of political instability in the peaceful state, in addition to portraying the ruling party in a negative light, ahead of the governorship election next year.”
This was said in a statement issued by the APC’s Publicity Secretary, Mr Alex Kalejaiye, on Sunday.
The press release went on to say, “It has come to our knowledge that some PDP chieftains, who have started making huge contributions, in collaboration with some players within our fold, have finalised plans to destabilise the Sunshine State,”
The APC argued that “it is unbelievable that the main opposition party, PDP, which is engulfed by leadership turmoil in Abuja, will prefer to go into unholy alliance with some elements in APC to foment avoidable crisis in Ondo State.”
“We are very optimistic that our performing governor, will be in our midst in a matter of days,” the governor’s office stated.
The PDP, on the other hand, refuted the charge, claiming that the ruling party has always been known for its peaceful and progressive efforts in the state.
Mr Kennedy Peretei, the party’s Publicity Secretary, stated that the APC was just terrified of its own shadow.
“Shameless people populate the APC.” The governor has been away from his duties since April of this year, and they are content with the state’s entire breakdown of governance. Since April of this year, the governor has not been seen in the state.
“The PDP is well-known in the state for its peaceful and developmental efforts.” We cannot be accused of plotting a state-wide calamity.
“It is clear that the APC is afraid of their own shadows after failing to meet the people’s expectations.” “If they know where Akeredolu is, they should invite him out or ask him to resign honorably,” Peretei added.
