In a major pre-election twist, three Ondo State gubernatorial candidates have withdrawn from the race, throwing their support behind Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of Saturday’s poll.
The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Aiyedatiwa, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, announced Thursday that Dr. Ajibola Falaye, Hon. Jenyo Ataunko, and Olaide Ibrahim, representing the Accord Party, National Rescue Movement, and African Democratic Congress, respectively, have all stepped down.
During a solidarity visit, Dr. Falaye explained their endorsement, highlighting Aiyedatiwa’s dedication to public service, transparent leadership, and focus on resident welfare. Praising the governor’s achievements in security and infrastructure, Falaye stated, “The state enjoys peace under his watch. His doors are open to all.”
He added, “We share the same progressive values, and this Saturday, we’ll turn our support into votes for continuity.”
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed heartfelt gratitude, calling their decision an act of goodwill, affirming a strong alliance for Ondo’s future.
