The embattled deputy governor of Ondo state and governorship candidate of Zenith  Labour party (ZLP) Agboola Ajayi  I  has reacted to the fire out break at the Independent National electoral Commission headquarters in Ondo state

Speaking to our correspondent about the fire incident Ajayi described as  unfortunate and an act of desperation by some people

Allen Sowore, the media aid of Ajayi said a prob panel  must be constituted to find out the unfortunate fire out break in INEC building.

The premier newspaper  had earlier reported that  a container housing 5,141 Smart Card Readers at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ondo State headquarters has been engulfed by fire.

Mr Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, confirmed this in a telephone interview with our correspondent

Okoye, who was in Akure for some INEC preparations for the state governorship election scheduled for Oct. 10, said that the inferno started at about 7.30 p.m., on Thursday evening.

Meanwhile, INEC had stated that the incident will not affect the already scheduled election, adding that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
