Due to the upcoming presidential and national assembly elections, Ondo State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Oyeyemi Oyediran, has mandated a limitation on motor travel within the state from 12 a.m. to 6 p.m. on February 25.

The restriction order was announced by SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the state’s police public relations officer (PPRO), in a statement made on Thursday in Akure.

According to Oyediran, the decision was made in accordance with IGP Alkali Usman Baba’s instructions.

However he added that INEC employees, election monitors, ambulances, firefighters, and other certified providers of essential and emergency services will be exempt.

The statement read: “VIPs will not move or be escorted during the election period, and state security organizations are not permitted to participate in such VIP movements.

The CP asked for their help in ensuring a peaceful election process while assuring the populace of adequate protection throughout the event.
