Workers at the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology in Okitipupa, Ondo State, protested the sacking of over 35 of their colleagues by the school’s administration on Wednesday morning.
According to reports, all affected employees received their sack letters on Tuesday.
Protesting employees who shut the school’s main gate stopped the entrance, preventing others from leaving or entering the campus.
The sacking of the affected workers was approved by the institution’s governing council, but protesters were outraged because the sacked workers were duly employed, issued appointment letters, completed all documentation, and had worked in the school for more than six months.
They threatened to continue paralyzing all academic and non-academic activity on campus until the decision was reversed.
