In Anambra state, a portion of the well-known Onitsha Main Market is currently on fire.
It is unknown what ignited the fire, which is said to have started around midnight.
A market vendor reported that the fire had destroyed two blocks of businesses in the Kano Street area of the market.
Firefighters’ efforts to douse the blaze, according to him, have not been successful.
Martin Agbili, the fire chief, claimed that his men were quickly sent to the area as soon as he was informed.
The Anambra State Fire Service received a distress call about a fire outbreak at Kano Street behind the Main Market in Onitsha at around 2.20 am on Monday, November 28, 2022, he stated.
“However, we sent a fire truck and firefighters to the fire’s scene, where they’ve been working ever since. They have made two trips to refill the fire truck.
