OPay has won two major awards at the 14th BusinessDay Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards 2026, receiving the titles of Digital Bank of the Year and Financial Inclusion Leader of the Year.
The awards ceremony took place on 9 October 2026 at the Civic Centre in Lagos. It recognised OPay’s role in improving digital financial services and helping more Nigerians access formal banking.
The double win highlights OPay’s focus on providing accessible, secure, reliable and convenient financial services through technology. With tens of millions of users and support for more than one million merchants and businesses, the company remains an important part of Nigeria’s digital financial sector.
OPay offers a range of financial services through mobile applications, USSD, cards, wallets and agency banking. This approach helps reduce barriers to financial access, especially in underserved communities. It also supports individuals, small businesses and merchants with their daily financial transactions.
Commenting on the awards, OPay’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer, Dotun Adekunle, praised BusinessDay for its continued recognition of excellence in Nigeria’s financial services industry.
“I commend BusinessDay for its longstanding commitment to recognising excellence in Nigeria’s financial services sector. These awards reaffirm our focus on delivering reliable and secure services that create real value for Nigerians. Our services are Okay, our people are Okay, and OPay is Okay.”
The awards also reflect OPay’s continued efforts to promote financial inclusion through technology. Its nationwide network of merchants and agents helps connect more people and businesses to digital financial services, encouraging wider participation in the formal financial system.
Looking ahead, OPay says it remains focused on putting customers first, building trust and developing innovative solutions that make everyday financial activities easier and more accessible.
