The Isaac Boro Expressway-based state secretariat of the Bayelsa State Labour Party was formally opened on Saturday to facilitate the coordination of activities for the 2023 general elections.
A number of committees that had been formed previously for the party’s presidential campaign as well as local government coordinators were also launched by the LP.
Uduak Udoh, the LP candidate for governor in Akwa Ibom State, spoke after conducting the building’s inauguration. He showed faith in Peter Obi, the party’s presidential standard bearer, and claimed that Nigerians are clamoring for him.
Udoh, who was joined by Charles Ebong, his running mate, and Iniobong Nyong, the vice chairman of the Akwa Ibom LP, among other leaders, called Peter Obi “a man of demonstrated honesty” who was capable of administering the nation well.
Everybody wants to meet Peter Obi, he remarked. He has what Nigeria needs, as far as we know. Nigeria requires a capable leader with a track record of integrity. And Peter Obi is the only other person we have. He’s wanted in Nigeria. He discusses industrialization and the development of human capital. Nigerians need someone who can end poverty, and Peter Obi will achieve that for us, according to him.
He has already done it previously when he was a governor, so we know he will do it again. He is not just saying it. We are aware of his impeccable credentials and he will work for us.
Alagoa Morris, the LP Presidential Campaign Council’s Bayelsa State Coordinator, stated in his speech that the party was making a lot of effort to persuade the state’s population that Peter Obi was the best candidate for the position.
He expressed his happiness at receiving a number of calls from people in other political parties who had promised to support the LP presidential candidate instead of their own candidates.
Morris, who called for sacrifice in order for Peter Obi to win the election, said: “We need to be free, and this nation needs to support the Peter Obi cause. This movement aims to liberate Nigerians from the corrupt political class there.
“So, people should vote their hearts, and we are urging them to support Peter Obi because he has demonstrated capacity, not only that, but he is a leader who has displayed exemplary conduct; he is not receiving a pension; Obi is one who paid all contractors who provided services during his tenure as a governor and also did not owe any pensioner. He owed nothing.
“Nigeria needs someone who can effectively handle the nation’s economy as well as its citizens’ human capital. Peter Obi will present this to Nigerians.
Eneyi Zidougha, the Bayelsa State Chairman of the LP, also spoke in favor of Peter Obi, underlining that over 70 volunteer organizations were actively involved in the effort to ensure the party’s victory in the upcoming presidential elections.
