OPTOMETRISTS SEEK JUSTICE FOR A COLLEAGUE WHO WAS ALLEGEDLY MURDERED IN ABUJA BY HER HUSBAND.

The Nigerian Optometric Association is fighting for justice for Dr. Ogechi Ezeagu, one of its members, who was allegedly strangled by her husband on July 10, 2023, as a result of domestic violence.

In a statement on Monday, August 7, Dr. Anderson Chimeziri, the association’s president, urged for a comprehensive investigation to be conducted in order to determine the real cause of the death and provide justice for all parties.

He urged the Inspector General of Police and other relevant FCT officials to bring the crime’s culprit to justice in order to ease the family’s suffering.

The Nigerian Optometric Association will not tolerate this, and we will take action to protect our female members.

In Nigeria, we are already working along with women optometrists to offer legal services that would shield all of our female members from abuse of any type, whether they are single or married. Our top priority is our members’ well-being.
