Oshiomhole Opposes Son’s Appointment as Health Commissioner

Edo State Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa has revealed that former Governor Adams Oshiomhole opposed the appointment of his son, Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole, as Commissioner for Health-designate. Governor Monday Okpebholo announced Cyril’s nomination last Tuesday through his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua.

Speaking on Channels Television on Wednesday, Idahosa described Cyril as a highly qualified medical professional. “Cyril is a seasoned medical doctor who studied in Nigeria and furthered his education in the U.S. His competence, not his parentage, earned him this role,” he said.

Idahosa dismissed claims of nepotism, emphasizing that the decision was merit-based and unrelated to Adams Oshiomhole’s influence. “Adams opposed the nomination, as it was solely driven by the governor’s vision for Edo State,” he added.

The deputy governor also refuted comparisons to state capture, stressing that the appointment aims to prioritize competence and deliver results for Edo people.
