Honourable Olumide Osoba, son of former governor Olusegun Osoba, has been declared winner of the House of Representatives election for Abeokuta North/ Odeda/Obafemi Owode Federal Constituency.
Olumide who occupied the seat from 2011 to 2015, reclaimed it from the incumbent, Hon. Mikhail Kazeem, of the Allied People’s Movement (APM).
The House of Representatives – elect polled a total of 33,538 votes to trounce Kazeem who garnered 14,903 votes.
A breakdown of the performances across Local Governments, revealed that Osoba won with 13,475 votes in Abeokuta North Local Government, Kazeem polled 8,597 votes, while Mrs. Abimbola Lanre-Balogun of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) scored 3,906 votes.
In Obafemi Owode Local Government, Osoba polled 12,930 votes while Kazeem scored 3315 and Lanre Balogun with 6913 votes respectively.
Also, Osoba’s son won in Odeda Local Government with 7133 votes while Kazeem and Lanre Balogun polled 2991 and 3494 votes respectively.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer in charge House of Representatives Collation centre at Unity High School, Ago-Ika, Abeokuta, Prof. S. O Ismaila, declared Olumide Osoba winner.
