Babatunji Wusu –
Jimoh Oyekanmi, the chairman of the Ede North local government’s caretaker committee, passed away on Wednesday, according to the PDP’s Osun State chapter.
According to a statement by the state PDP chairman, Mr. Sunday Bisi, Oyekanmi passed away unexpectedly late on Tuesday, a few hours after leaving his place of employment.
Oyekanmi was characterized by Bisi as a willing and tenacious team player who never got weary of carrying out the tasks entrusted to his care. Bisi grieved the sudden passing of the dead.
The party chairman later announced a three-day period of mourning and the suspension of party activity after offering his condolences to the deceased’s friends, family, and the government of Osun.
The following excerpts were taken from the statement: “The Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party is devastated to report the loss of the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ede North local government, whose tragic demise happened late on Tuesday, 10th of October 2023.
“The PDP finds it difficult to accept the death of the chairman, who was at his office and vivacious till the early morning hours. The fact that the party had to subject to the undeniable will of the all-powerful Allah, who gives and takes, made it quite unpleasant for us as a family.
“To lose Jimoh Oyekanmi was one engine room too many, to put it bluntly. He was a dedicated team member who never got tired of carrying out the tasks assigned to him.
The state working committee of our party, led by Hon. Sunday Bisi, now suspends all party activities for the ensuing three days, with party flags throughout the state flying at half-mast for an equal number of days, as we struggle to come to terms with Alhaji Oyekanmi’s passing.
“Condolence register should also be made available at the state secretariat as well as the Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo branches of the party.”
