After fatally stabbing one Rofiyat Rasaki in the Kajola part of the town, Abdulafeez Shorinmade, a suspected drug user, was detained by officers from the Osun State Police Command in Iwo.

Abdulafeez is also accused of stabbing and injuring an 18-year-old Sawiyu Nasrup in Iwo’s Soba Area before allegedly fleeing the scene of the crime.

Police officers are reported to have invaded the location after receiving a distress call from the crime site, gave the culprit a hard pursuit, and ultimately caught him.

When reached on Friday, Yemisi Opalola, the spokeswoman for the Osun Police Command, confirmed the attacks and said the suspect had used a pair of scissors to commit them.

She added that the second victim of the attack only suffered injuries and had been treated at a hospital before being released, while the first victim of the incident bled to death.

A 20-year-old woman named Rofiyat Rasaki was fatally stabbed in the neck at around 9:30 p.m. in the Kajola district of Iwo by a man named Abdulafeez Shorinmade, who was thought to be under the influence of drugs. Suspect left the area.

“When he arrived at the Soba Compound, he also stabbed Sawiyu Nasrup, an 18-year-old woman, in the chin. The DPO and his crew arrived at the murder scene quickly, gave the suspect a vigorous pursuit, and then captured him.

“The victim was taken to the hospital right away, where she received treatment and was later released. The second victim’s body was brought to a general hospital, Opalola said.
