The governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has signed the 2024 appropriations bill into law, promising that his administration is ready to execute the budget in order to carry out his shared prosperity plan.
The speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, together with other key officials presented the governor with the 2024 appropriation, dubbed the “Budget of Sustainable Growth and Development,” at the Exco Chamber of the governor’s office in Ado Ekiti.
Ninety-nine billion, five hundred and seventy-two million, four hundred and eighty-one thousand, nine hundred and fifteen Naira, and fifty-one Kobo (N159,572,481,915.51) is the estimated 2024 budget.
Forty-four percent (44%) of the budget was designated for capital expenditures, and fifty-six percent (56%) was allocated for recurring expenses.
Speaking during the budget’s signing, Governor Oyebanji reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to seeing to it that the budget is completely implemented in order to promote sustainable growth and raise the living standards of Ekiti State residents.
According to him, the budget would help his administration keep its campaign pledges to the public and carry out its duties by boosting the state’s economy, generating jobs, and improving the socioeconomic climate generally.
The governor acknowledged that the Assembly has shown to be a dependable partner in the state’s development program and thanked the Speaker and Members of the Assembly for their careful examination of the budget and work in preparing the final budget.
“I am really pleased with the caliber of discussion and examination that the members of the Assembly have instituted.
“Mr. Speaker, I have heard you speak about the importance of being dedicated to carrying out this budget. With your supervision and in collaboration with the House of Assembly, we will make sure that we carry out this budget exactly as planned because it is the only way we can truly motivate our people and fulfill our commitments,” the governor said.
The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, had earlier stated that the House had determined that the budget was in line with the priorities of the people after carefully deliberating and examining it.
According to Aribasoye, the House was quite pleased with the budget’s presentation because it was thoughtfully crafted to satisfy the goals and aspirations of the Ekiti people.
He insisted that in order to further the general welfare and advancement of the state, the House of Assembly would keep working with the executive branch of government.
The state executive council, members of the state House of Assembly, the chief (Monisade Afuye), and the deputy governor all saw the signing of the budget.
