Youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have urged Governor Seyi Makinde to start preparing his handover note, insisting that residents increasingly demand a new leadership direction ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking at a press briefing at the APC Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, the State APC Youth Leader, Comrade John Aremu, said young party members are intensifying mobilisation efforts to “rescue” the state from what they described as the grip of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government.
Aremu accused the Makinde-led administration of holding the state “in bondage,” stressing that APC youths are determined to deliver political change. He declared that the ruling PDP should brace for an exit as progressive young leaders within the APC prepare to take charge.
Citing recent political alignments, Aremu highlighted the reconciliation between Senator Teslim Folarin and the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, describing it as a major boost for party unity ahead of 2027. He said the renewed cooperation would strengthen the APC’s electoral prospects.
He also announced that the forthcoming APC Youth Summit will prioritise restructuring party units, expanding grassroots mobilisation, and strengthening collaboration among young members around a unified progressive agenda.
According to him, the summit will unveil a youth-driven strategic roadmap anchored on digital advocacy, political mobilisation, community engagement, and issue-based campaigns targeted at reclaiming the state.
“The future of Oyo must be planned today,” Aremu said, adding that the youth wing is fully prepared to drive the transformation needed to reposition the state.
