PDP ends electoral collaboration with Accord in Osun after the two parties concluded their arrangement around the 15 August governorship election.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State says it will no longer work with the Accord party under the electoral arrangement used for the governorship poll.

PDP National Treasurer Diran Odeyemi disclosed the decision in a statement signed by Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi Ajagunla in Osogbo on Saturday.

Mr Odeyemi said the agreement between the PDP and Accord was created specifically for the governorship election.

He stressed that the arrangement would not extend to the 2027 general elections.

The development marks a clear shift in the relationship between the two parties as political parties begin to position themselves for the next electoral cycle.

According to the PDP chieftain, the party has already started preparing for the 2027 elections.

He said PDP candidates would soon begin campaign activities as the party works to strengthen its position ahead of the polls.

The decision also gives the PDP an opportunity to define its political strategy without relying on the electoral partnership it formed with Accord for the Osun governorship election.

Meanwhile, attention is expected to shift towards how the PDP will organise its campaign structure and select candidates for the 2027 elections.

The party’s decision comes at a time when political parties across Nigeria are beginning to assess their alliances, strategies and grassroots structures ahead of the next general election.

For now, the PDP has made its position clear: its electoral collaboration with Accord was limited to the Osun governorship election and will not continue into 2027.
