The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum has declared that the opposition party has grown stronger and more united after some of its key chieftains defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement on Monday signed by its Director General, Emmanuel Agbo, the Forum dismissed the defectors as politicians who resorted to “irresponsible verbal attacks” after realising they had boarded a “one-chance vehicle.”

The PDP governors likened the ADC returnees to the Biblical prodigal son, stressing that while the party has become more formidable since their exit, its doors remain open to welcome those who show genuine remorse.

“Since their departure, the PDP has become more focused, with a clear determination to keep our eyes on the ball,” the statement read. “The ADC, with its misplaced sense of entitlement, was a clog in the wheel of national unity and harmony.”

The governors also expressed grave concern over Nigeria’s worsening security situation, noting that it dominated their recent deliberations and resolutions.

“The ADC’s failure to recognise this national challenge is not surprising. Just like the prodigal son, they had no pity for the fortune of their father,” the Forum added.

Among the defectors to the ADC are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President David Mark, ex-lawmaker Dino Melaye, and several other notable politicians who left the PDP to join the opposition coalition.
