…Group says FCT Minister has lost standing in opposition party
…Urges Nigerians to ignore his media outbursts
The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has declared that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is no longer recognised as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The group, made up of professionals loyal to the PDP, said the former Rivers State Governor must be “put in his rightful place,” following what it described as his consistent alignment with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement signed by Obinna Nwachukeu, the group’s chairman, CP-PDP dismissed Wike’s Monday media chat in which he attempted to dictate conditions for the internal affairs of the PDP, describing it as empty noise.
According to the group, Wike’s public show of support for the APC and the Tinubu-led government renders him unfit to speak on PDP matters or parade himself as a member of the opposition party.
“Wike is an appointee and apologist of the failed Tinubu administration. He no longer has the moral or political ground to interfere in PDP affairs,” the statement read.
The CP-PDP further urged Nigerians to disregard any future outbursts from Wike, warning that his utterances are self-serving and misleading.
“The FCT Minister must realise that the PDP has outgrown the era of being controlled, influenced, or bullied by political diatribes,” the statement added.
The group also pointed out that the party’s leadership in the South-South and South-East has long been settled and is functioning effectively.
“Wike’s reference to court orders regarding the leadership structure in both regions is of no consequence and should be disregarded,” the professionals said.
They reaffirmed their loyalty to the PDP’s leadership and structure and cautioned against distractions from political actors who have “crossed to the other side but still want to hold the party hostage.”
