The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed deep disappointment over the defection of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, voiced the party’s dismay on Wednesday during an interview on The Morning Brief, a Channels Television programme.
Ologunagba urged PDP governors to remain loyal and mindful of their mandate as leaders entrusted with political power by the electorate.
“The PDP is utterly disappointed by those actions, having regard to what we know behind the scene,” he said. “But having said that, people have a right to decide what they want to do; the consequences can follow.”
He disclosed that the party had long been aware of internal saboteurs working to undermine its unity and growth. Despite the setback, Ologunagba expressed optimism about the party’s future, revealing that the forthcoming national convention scheduled for November in Ibadan, Oyo State, would mark a major step toward rebuilding and repositioning the PDP for future elections.
