Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has described the passing of Dr. Doyin Okupe as a monumental loss to Nigeria.

Expressing his grief in a post on his official X handle, Obi emphasized that Okupe’s demise resonates beyond his family, affecting the entire nation.

The former Anambra governor hailed Okupe as a key political figure who remained deeply committed to shaping a better Nigeria. He urged members of the Obidient Movement and well-meaning Nigerians to offer prayers for the repose of Okupe’s soul and to support his family in this difficult time.

“With profound sadness, I received the shocking news of my dear elder brother, Dr. Doyin Okupe’s death. On behalf of his family and the Obidient family, I sincerely mourn his departure. His loss is not just personal but a collective tragedy for us all.”

“May God, who called him home, grant him eternal rest and give his loved ones and all of us the strength to endure this irreplaceable void,” Obi wrote.

You would recalls that Okupe breathed his last on Friday morning after a long battle with an illness suspected to be cancer.
