Cristiano Ronaldo mutually terminated his contract with Manchester United and moved on as a free agent with Al-Nassr FC of the Saudi Pro League.

“History is being written. This is a signing that will motivate not only our team to further its success but also our league, our country, and the next generation of young men and women to strive to be the best versions of themselves. Welcome to AlNassr FC, Cristiano,” the Saudi club tweeted on Sunday.

Ronaldo, 37, signed a two-year contract to return to United from Juventus last year. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner fell out of favor with new manager Ten Hag after a successful debut season. Throughout the season, the two had a public argument, and Ronaldo was eventually suspended by the team for refusing to enter the game against Tottenham Hotspur as a substitute.

In his debut season with United, he played 292 games and put 118 goals on the board. In 54 games during his second spell, he scored 27 goals.

The Portuguese had a World Cup to forget in Qatar, scoring only once from the penalty spot. His journey came to an end in the quarterfinals when Portugal was defeated 1-0 by Morocco. This practically means that Ronaldo will end his career without scoring a single goal in the World Cup knockout rounds.

More to come….
