On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, soldiers from 1 Division, Nigerian Army (NA) successfully neutralized two more terrorists along Abasia-Amale village at the eastern part of Polewire in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State as part of ongoing operations to rid the North West of terrorists and other types of criminality. Additionally, on October 20, 2022, commuters who had been abducted on the Kaduna-Zaria route were freed by the troops.
Based on reliable intelligence, the highly motivated soldiers invaded the Abasia-Amale village, fought the terrorists with superior firepower, and ultimately defeated and neutralized two of them. The soldiers also took from the terrorists a mobile phone, two magazines, 38 rounds of special 7.62mm ammunition, and an AK 47 weapon.
Another occurrence occurred early on October 20, 2022, when armed bandits barricaded the Kaduna-Zaria route in the Birnin Yero Ward region near the Foundation general area. The thieves started shooting at the commuters, kidnapped some of them, and then took off with an unknown number of victims. However, quick action by the troops forced the crooks to flee after they were forced to abandon five commuters who had been kidnapped earlier.
After being saved by the military, the commuters were then immediately evacuated off the highway so that vehicles could travel freely. Unluckily, one of the passengers was shot and had to be taken to the hospital right away.
Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), praised the soldiers for their valor and asked them to continue their efforts until the region is free of terrorism and other criminal activity.
Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, the general officer commanding 1 Division NA, has also asked all law-abiding individuals to keep providing the military and other security services with reliable information that can be used to combat criminal groups.
