Big Brother Naija winner, Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has accused Dangote Group of negligence and insensitivity in handling issues surrounding the death and burial of her sister, Ruth Otabor.
In a series of Instagram posts, Phyna alleged that her sister’s tragic death was not only avoidable but “calculated and planned.” She criticized Dangote Group for failing to fulfill its public commitment to cover all medical and burial expenses.
According to her, the company only settled bills at Lagoon Hospital in Lagos, leaving her family to pay for additional medical costs from Auchi to Irrua. “The bills from Auchi down to Irrua were covered by the family; no refund has been made,” she lamented.
Phyna further claimed that on September 13, the day of Ruth’s burial, all efforts to reach Dangote Group failed. “They did not pick up calls from us, and we were told the bills were not paid, though they claim otherwise,” she wrote.
The reality star also shared a letter allegedly sent by Dangote Group to her father, asking him to sign an acknowledgment of burial expenses. She described the move as “impersonation” and accused the company of trying to manipulate the narrative after the burial.
“This letter that was sent to my dad this evening is really paining me. @dangotegroup you killed my sister, did massive PR, gave the girl’s papa money for burial, then still by yourself wrote an acknowledgement letter impersonating my father and sent it to him to sign,” Phyna wrote.
She questioned why a conglomerate of such magnitude would, in her words, resort to “dishonest tactics” instead of treating her family with transparency and respect.
