Babatunji Wusu –
The terrorist attack that left at least 160 people dead in the Barkin Ladi, Bokkod, and Mangu Local Government Areas of Plateau State was denounced on Wednesday by the Christian Association of Nigeria in the 19 Northern States and Abuja.
According to reports, the thugs destroyed at least 221 homes during the attack.
In an announcement made in Kaduna, Sunday Oibe, the Northern CAN Secretary, expressed the hope that the latest assault would not be ignored like earlier ones.
Under his leadership, he pleaded with President Bola Tinubu not to permit the Plateau or any other region of the nation to become an ungoverned area.
The President’s order that those responsible be held accountable shouldn’t be the standard government line when such situations happen, according to the Northern CAN writer.
“The association is saddened over yet another barbaric attack by terrorists on communities in the Plateau State local government areas of Barakin Ladi, Bokkos, and Mangu,” he stated. The attack claimed the lives of over 160 people and left 221 houses reportedly on fire.
“On the Plateau, this is one attack too many. Plateau has continuously suffered greatly at the hands of terrorists and bandits since this democratic regime.
Even in the animal kingdom, such savagery is unimaginable.
It is regrettable that in Nigeria, where people are slaughtered and little to no attempt is made by the authorities to bring the offenders to justice, this kind of depravity seems to have become the standard.
“President Tinubu is required to make certain that the security agencies follow his instructions.”
The statement went on, “Criminals using advanced weapons to kill, maim, and destroy property should never go unpunished. This is how societies do not advance.”
It is imperative that President Bola Tinubu prevents the Plateau or any other region of Nigeria from becoming ungoverned due to the actions of a group of criminals who are determined to inflict hardship to innocent Nigerians.
“As Nigerians already have a difficult time getting by, this act of maiming innocent lives needs to stop.”
The Northern CAN prayed for the souls of the deceased and wished for a quick recovery for the injured, while expressing sympathy to the families of the dead, the government, and the people of Plateau State for the tragic event.
The message continued, “We beg people who have lost loved ones to have faith and trust God by pardoning those who caused them this suffering, for only God can win the war on their behalf.
