A female pilgrim from Plateau State, Hajiya Jamila Muhammad, has passed away in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, due to complications arising from diabetes.
The Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mr. Daiyabu Dauda, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Tuesday.
According to Dauda, the late pilgrim was promptly taken to King Abdul’aziz Hospital in Makkah after exhibiting signs of health complications. “When the complications began, we immediately took her to the hospital for proper medication in line with our mandate,” he stated.
Despite medical efforts, she passed away on Monday. Doctors confirmed the cause of death as diabetes-related complications.
Dauda noted that the deceased was buried in Makkah according to Islamic rites. He expressed condolences to her family and encouraged them to take solace in God.
The incident comes amid the ongoing Hajj pilgrimage, during which thousands of Nigerian pilgrims have already arrived in Saudi Arabia.
