Caleb Mutfwang, the candidate for governor of Plateau State, has promised the departing administration, which is now led by Governor Simon Lalong, that the new administration will not go after him after taking office.

At a state banquet held on Saturday evening to welcome the new administration, which will take office on May 29, Mutfwang gave a speech.

The banquet, organized by the Inauguration Planning Committee, was held at the New Government House in Rayfield, Jos, and included the outgoing governor, Simon Lalong, as well as Plateau elders, religious leaders, traditional rulers, and party men and women from various political parties.

“I want to believe that moving forward, we will build a new Plateau that belongs to all of us,” the governor-elect stated. We pray that history will be kind to us because all of us who have the opportunity to serve are standing on the shoulders of history, and only history will determine the sort of marks that will be given to you.

Mutfwang thanked governor Lalong for doing his part to advance the State and sent him his best wishes for the future.

“I want to promise Plateau State that we won’t fail to protect the state’s common assets, but we also won’t engage in witch hunts. We shall handle any problems that need to be resolved as a family.

He enlisted the help of Plateau residents, especially governmental employees, and convinced them that he had come to make improvements where they were needed.

“We have come to add value where there is a need for value addition,” he said.

Lalong, the departing governor, greeted the incoming administration and gave advice to the new leader to pursue peace with a commitment to diligence, fairness, and justice in dealing with citizens.

In continuing inherited initiatives as well as starting and finishing new ones, he said, “as we bow out on Monday, we look back with a sense of fulfillment on how we have been able to put the people first.”

At the event, prominent dignitaries included Arch. Pam Dung Gyang for the Plateau Elders, Justice David Mann, the Chief Judge of Plateau State, Alh. Babangida Muazu, the Co-Chairman, Prof. Danladi Atu, and Senator Istifanus Gyang for Plateau North and the Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defense.
