Following his recovery from a protracted knee injury, Paul Pogba will be eligible for Juventus’ Serie A match against Monza, according to coach Massimiliano Allegri.
Pogba, a midfielder for France, suffered a meniscus injury in his right knee in July and was unable to participate in the World Cup. Since joining Juventus from Manchester United last summer, he has yet to play in a game.
He first decided against having surgery in an effort to join the tournament in Qatar, but he later changed his mind. Despite this, he was unable to play for Les Bleus, who lost their title as world champions in a nail-biting final against Argentina.
Dusan Vlahovic, a Serbian striker who has been sidelined since early December with a groin issue, will rejoin Pogba in the matchday squad.
Allegri assured reporters that Vlahovic and Pogba will be available the next day.
They are in good spirits… Though I believe Pogba is in somewhat better shape than Vlahovic, Paul has made some strides in the last few days.
Pogba, who earlier this month participated in team practice for the first time since October, will only be allowed to play for a maximum of 30 minutes on Sunday’s match at the Allianz Stadium, according to Allegri.
“If they are on the team, they are eligible to play. The most they’ll have in their legs is 30 minutes, so it’s clear that they don’t have 60,” he remarked.
Federico Chiesa, an Italian attacker who recently returned from a major knee injury and is currently on rest with a little thigh issue, won’t be available for Allegri.
“Chiesa is not available because he has a problem with the leg’s thigh that required surgery, but this kind of thing can happen after 10 months,” stated Allegri.
He will return for Lazio on Thursday, so it will only be a matter of a few days.
Due to his involvement in an alleged extortion conspiracy involving his own brother, Pogba has had a challenging season.
If Juventus loses to the Silvio Berlusconi-owned team again, like they did in September, they would drop to 11th place in Serie A and be overtaken by promoted Monza. Juventus was punished 15 points for illegal transfer activities.
