Police operatives attached to the Delta State Command have arrested one of the kidnappers, after much fire dull were others escaped and three female victims were recue at Egbudu-Akah community in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state.

Its was at about 8.30pm on 25th March, 2024 an Hunter who was hunting in Egbudu-Akah forest, he sight a group of people suspected to be kidnappers, and their helpless kidnapped victims.

He quickly ran out from the bush and reported what he saw to the police.

Police operatives and some vigilante men swift into the forest on a rescue mission. draw close to the kidnappers den, the suspected kidnappers sighted the police and open fire.

The criminal took to their hills as they exchanged fire with the teams as they couldn’t withstand the fire works while escaping one of the suspected kidnappers was arrested and all three kidnapped female victims were rescued and taken to the hospital for medical attention

 

The Delta State Public Relation Officer (PRO) SP. Edafe Bright, in his statement, said, Preliminary investigation revealed that all the victims were kidnapped on their way to the hospital.

It was also gethered that, the said suspected kidnappers earlier demanded fifteen million naira (N15 Million) ransom for their release.

Mr Edafe further added that, while searching the scene, the following exhibits were recovered: 3 Cutlasses, 2 TECNO phones, A Solar Panel, a Power Bank, Charms, 2 Torch Lights, and some other food items. Meanwhile, the suspect and exhibit have been transferred to SCIID for further investigations.

 

In another development, on 25th March, 2024 at about 1pm, Police officers attached to the Anti-Crime Patrol Team in Agbor Division while conducting stop and search duty.

Along Ekuku-Agbor Community a young man, one Happy Boi Akaibe of 25 years was arrested with a bag, a Locally Made Cut-To-Size Double Barrel Gun and a cartridge were recovered.

Mr Edafe said, the Command has commenced investigation while auspect and the exhibit have been transfered to SCID for discreet investigations and appropriate prosecutions.

Speaking earlier, the Commissioner of Police Delta State Command, Mr. Abaniwonda Olufemi has comment officers of the Command for their continued vigilance and efforts to curb kidnapping and other crimes in the State.

CP Abaniwonda Olufemi reiterates the command’s unwavering commitment combating crime and other vices.

While noting the grave threat illegal firearms pose to public safety, he added that the tireless work of the officers of the command is instrumental in ensuring the safety and security of our communities.

He further encourages the public to commiserate the diligence and efforts of the police in fighting crime by reporting any suspicious incident to the nearest police station.
