The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has clarified reports surrounding an armed robbery incident at Efab Global Estate, Idu, dismissing claims that over 40 assailants invaded the estate and injured multiple security guards.
In a press release issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the police confirmed that a robbery took place in the early hours of Tuesday, May 21, 2025. The incident was reported at 4:05 AM, with robbers gaining access through the estate’s rear perimeter fence. Contrary to exaggerated online reports, only two security personnel were tied up, and one was injured. The injured guard was immediately taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) and is currently in stable condition.
The robbers made away with laptops, mobile phones, and other valuables. According to the statement, the Divisional Police Officer of Life Camp Division received a distress call shortly after the robbers had already left the scene. In response, Area Commander ACP Harrison Oruruo led a tactical team to the estate, though the suspects had already fled.
To prevent a recurrence, security around the estate has been tightened in partnership with vigilante groups and community leaders. Investigations are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, urged estate residents and managements to implement strict background checks on private security personnel and domestic staff. He also called for closer collaboration between communities and local police divisions.
Residents are encouraged to remain alert and report suspicious activities through the Command’s emergency numbers: 08032003913, 08028940883, 07057337653, or the Complaint Response Unit at 08107314192.
The police reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of all communities in the FCT.
