The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, on Wednesday joined the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to unveil the official logo, mascot and theme for the 15th Biennial Nigeria Police Games scheduled to hold in Asaba in 2026.
The colourful ceremony signaled a major step in preparations for the prestigious sporting event, which continues to serve as a platform for discovering and developing athletic talent within the Nigeria Police Force. The Games also promote discipline, teamwork and physical readiness among officers nationwide.
In his address, IGP Egbetokun described the unveiling as the beginning of a fresh sporting vision for the Force. He said the Games have consistently produced elite athletes who have represented Nigeria at continental and global events. According to him, sports remain a vital tool for strengthening unity and building a professional police institution.
He announced the theme for the 2026 edition as “Beyond the Badge; Excellence in Action!” alongside the supporting slogan “Discipline, Dignity and Dedication!” The IGP expressed confidence that Delta State, known for delivering major sporting competitions, would host one of the most successful editions of the Police Games.
Governor Oborevwori, in his remarks, emphasized the significance of the Games in promoting camaraderie, fitness and national cohesion. He said the newly unveiled logo and mascot embody the spirit, courage and identity of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Governor assured all participants of Delta State’s readiness to host a peaceful, warm and well-organized event. He pledged that Asaba would provide an enabling atmosphere for athletes and visitors throughout the Games. He also commended the IGP and the planning committee for their commitment to ensuring the success of the tournament.
With the unveiling now concluded, preparations are set to intensify as the build-up to the 2026 Games begins. The 15th Biennial Police Games, tagged “ASABA 2026,” will commence on 7 February 2026 and run until 14 February 2026.
The nation now looks forward to a vibrant celebration of strength, unity and professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force.
