Two suspects were detained by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly trying to defraud a woman of N600,000 after defrauding her of N90,000.
On Saturday, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesman for the Command, confirmed the arrest on his verified Twitter account, which the News Agency of Nigeria was keeping an eye on.
He named the suspects as Osadebe Aigbe, 35, and Uche Awaize, 45.
He claimed that the suspects were detained on Friday while they awaited the money at a bank gate.
“A bank teller observed a 64-year-old customer yesterday at around 3:50 p.m. who was fidgety, receiving multiple calls, and rushing to withdraw N600,000.
“When the cashier inquired about the issue, the woman replied that speaking would cause her death.
“Ogudu Division police officers were contacted right away.
Two of the three scammers who were waiting outside were taken into custody, while the third fled, the man claimed.
According to a preliminary investigation, according to Hundeyin, the suspects had initially taken N90,000 from the victim.
He claims that efforts are being made to apprehend the second gang member.
